A former international Jujutsu player, who represented India in the Asian Games, allegedly committed suicide by hanging at her house at Dewas near Indore in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday.

According to police, Rohini Kalam (35) was found hanging in her room by her younger sister, Roshni Kalam, at their house in the Arjun Nagar Radhaganj locality of Dewas. The sister informed other family members and the police about the incident. The player was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her dead.

The deceased was working as a martial arts coach at a private school in Ashta town near Dewas. She had come home on Saturday.

According to information, Rohini represented India at the Asian Games in the Japanese martial art, Jujutsu. She won a bronze medal at an International Jujutsu competition at Abu Dhabi. She served as the general secretary of the MP Jujutsu Association.

The police said no suicide note was recovered from the spot. Further investigations were on to ascertain the reason for her taking the extreme step.
